| Two of the best still undecided seniors will announce their college choices Wednesday, the first day of the signing period. Superb athlete, No. 30 rated 6-8 PF Chris Singleton, now at Dunwoody, Ga., will sign with either Florida State or Kentucky. I think that it was no coincidence that Singleton's Dunwoody teammate, 6-0 PG Pierre Jordan, committed yesterday to the Seminoles. Reportedly, Jordan's other offers were from programs such as Central Florida, Butler, Marshall, and VCU. It would appear that Florida State may have orchestrated a very smart package deal to get both Jordan and Singleton. We will soon find out.
The other top rated senior who will announce on Wednesday is No.42-rated, 6-7 forward Kevin Jones (Mount Vernon, N.Y.). Reportedly, the finalists for Jones are: Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Seton Hall, St. John's and Connecticut. Tyreke Evans may extend his decision until the late signing peirod in the spring. The top still available player, No. 2 rated 6-5 2G Tyreke Evans (Aston, Pa.), is not expected to sign early. Reportedly, his brother, Reggie Evans, has said that Tyreke has not yet decided upon his future college. His top schools now are: Louisville, Memphis, Texas, Villanova, Seton Hall, Connecticut and North Carolina. The No. 20 rated player, 6-5 2G Willie Warren (Fort Worth, Texas, North Crowley), could sign early with Oklahoma, Kansas, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Connecticut or Baylor. Or, he may delay his decision until next April. No. 44 rated, 6-3 1/2G J'Covan Brown (Port Arthur, Texas, Memorial), is considering Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, New Mexico and Cincinnati. Do not be surprised if Brown signs this week with Coach Rick Barnes' Longhorns. |

| According to the national men's college basketball player rankings, the MAC started last week with nine of the top 250 most productive players in Division I basketball. That may not sound like a big deal, but understand there are more than 300 Division I teams (1,500 starters) in major college basketball.
According to the rankings - which are based on games played, minutes played, points, rebounds, assists, field-goal percentage and free-throw percentage - Miami forward Danny Horace is the most productive player in the MAC at No. 48 in the nation. After Horace, who is second in the MAC in scoring (17.6 ppg) and No. 1 in the league (No. 6 in the nation) in rebounding (11.4 rpg), is Kent guard DeAndre Haynes at No. 79; Marshall center Mark Patton, No. 84; Kent forward Kevin Warzynski, No. 87; Toledo swingman Keith Triplett, No. 110; Kent swingman Jason Edwin, No. 184; Ball State guard Peyton Stovall, No. 186; Kent forward Jay Youngblood, No. 200 and Miami guard Chester Mason, No. 247. |
