| The Dodge Charger dominated NASCAR and races at Darlington Raceway in the late 60s and early 70s with legendary drivers such as Richard Petty and Buddy Baker. Now the legendary Hemi muscle car will be back on the track "Too Tough To Tame" with the new stars of NASCAR racing; Kasey Kahne, Jeremy Mayfield, Ryan Newman and others.
The all-new Dodge Charger is expected to be in showrooms in June. To build awareness for the Charger, the Carolina Dodge Dealers and Darlington Raceway have agreed to name the May 7th Nextel Cup Series race the "Dodge Charger 500". A new race logo, designed with the Charger Hemi orange color, fuels the passion of the earlier era and bridges it to today. Jeff Egolf, President of the Carolina Dodge Dealers Advertising Association, says, "This is our 5th sponsored race at Darlington, and each one has been called the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400. While we enjoy putting our name on the race, there is an excitement for the all-new Dodge Charger I have not seen before for a new model launch. Because of all this excitement, we wanted to make the May 7th race a real Dodge Charger showcase, so the consumer could see and feel how great this new car is. With displays and on-track action, race fans at Darlington will be among the first in the nation to experience the modern muscle of Dodge." |

| Shaun White, the 18-year-old skateboarder-snowboarder phenomenon, has been named grand marshal for the 55th running of the legendary Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
White, who is a Dew Actions Sports athlete and has been sponsored by Mountain Dew since 2003, is the first athlete to compete in the Winter and Summer X Games in two distinct sports - snowboarding and skateboarding, respectively. In February 2004, White won the men's Slopestyle gold medal in the Winter X Games with the highest score in Winter X Games history. He also competed in the Skateboard Vert Finals at the 2004 Summer X Games. "NASCAR is the ultimate action sport, so I'm excited to be involved with it," White said. White started competing as an action sports athlete when he was only 13. He established a reputation for big air and tying together snowboarding and skateboarding tricks in ways that had never been done before. In 2003, he made a name for himself by winning events in the Winter X Games and in every other event he decided to enter. The spry teen with fiery red hair and freckles to match, won the X Games gold medal in slopestyle and superpipe, and took the Games' best-athlete award. A month later, White became the youngest snowboarder to win the U.S. Open Slopestyle Championship. White also made his mark on the skateboarding world. He joined Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour in 2002 and made his pro skateboarding debut at the 2003 Slam City Jam, where he finished fourth in vert half pipe, which qualified him for the Gravity Games and 2003 Summer X Games. |
