| The Seminoles worked out in full pads for the first time this spring, spending the first 13 periods on the practice fields before moving over to Bobby Bowden Field for a half-scrimmage. The offense got three touchdowns during the controlled scrimmage but the defense held the upper hand most of the day. Xavier Lee hit De'Cody Fagg for a 73-yard touchdown to start the scoring and Drew Weatherford later connected with Lorne Sam on a 35-yard touchdown. The final TD came on a one-yard Joe Surratt run. Kamerion Wimbley led the defense with three sacks and Pat Watkins had the only interception. The defense held the offense out of the endzone on all eight goalline attempts at the end of the scrimmage. The starting linebacker trio of Ernie Sims, A.J. Nicholson and Buster Davis showed why they are regarded as the best unit in the country as they combined for 15 tackles and two forced fumbles. Clifton Dickson added a sack and a fumble recovery.
The team will take Friday, Saturday and Sunday off and return to practice on Monday. |

| Last year I played the role of sidekick playing next to Travis (Johnson). This year we are going to need a new leader and I just want to try and take that role. I am just going out there and trying to lead by example by making plays coming off the ball and hustling to the ball. We have got a lot of young players and we are trying to make them better. In order to do that I am going to have to set a good example so when they see me they will feel that they have to do the same thing."
"We were alright. We have got to get better, our enthusiasm we have got to get it up to where we had it last year. It was good for the first day but we have got a long way to go." |
