The No. 12-ranked Georgetown University men's basketball team hit the road for its final BIG EAST Conference road matchup of the season, a date with Syracuse on Monday night at the Carrier Dome. The game will be shown live on ESPN, with Sean McDonough, Jay Bilas and Bill Raftery calling the action. It can be heard locally on SportsTalk 980 AM, with Rich Chvotkin, the "Voice of Georgetown Basketball."

The Hoyas enter Monday night's contest with an 11-game win streak following a 61-53 win on Saturday over No. Pittsburgh at Verizon Center. A win on Monday night would clinch the BIG EAST Regular Season title for the Hoyas. Georgetown took sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST Conference with its win over Pittsburgh. It was the 11th-straight win for the Hoyas, who improved to 22-5 overall and 12-2 in the BIG EAST. The 11 wins have all come against conference opponents, the first time since 1984-85 season a Hoya squad has won 11 in a row against teams from the BIG EAST. That year, they won the final seven regular season games, three-straight in the BIG EAST Tournament and beat St. John's in the national semifinal. The 11-game win streak is the longest for a Georgetown team since the 2000-01 squad won the first 16 games of the season.

In the win over Pittsburgh, the Hoyas held the Panthers to a season-low 53 points and a season-low 32.8% percent shooting from the field. It was the 20th time this season that Georgetown had held an opponent to 60 or fewer points. The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST and rank No. 5 nationally in scoring defense, allowing only 56.3 points per game. The team ranks third in the league and 10th nationally in field goal percentage defense (38.7%). Georgetown's average margin of victory during its current 11-game win streak is 13.5 points per game. The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST and rank second in the country in field goal percentage (52.2%).
