Last season the Memphis Grizzlies finished with the league's worst record, their star player asked to be traded, their coach was fired and the front office collapsed. Even the lottery balls didn't bounce their way, and they missed out on the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant sweepstakes.

"It was like a nightmare you couldn't wake up from," guard Damon Stoudamire said.

But it won't be hard for the Grizzlies to forget last season. There's hardly anyone left to remember it.

Memphis has a new coach, a new general manager and a roster cluttered with fresh players. The offseason changes have sparked optimism, but also leaves the Grizzlies with a young, inexperienced team.

Besides Stoudamire, a 12-year veteran, the average player for the Grizzlies has less than three years of NBA experience.

"I'm looking around and it's like all these guys is babies to me," Stoudamire said. "None of them have really been through what I've been through. None of them have won a playoff game. None of them have really been in what is called a war, so to speak."

Among the flurry of offseason moves, Memphis hired first-time NBA head coach Marc Iavaroni and general manager Chris Wallace, who replaces highly regarded team president Jerry West.

Iavaroni has been an assistant coach and player for more than 17 years, but has never been at the helm.

And Wallace was general manager of a Boston Celtics team that finished with the NBA's second-worst record last season, behind only Memphis.

The new, unproven regime has overhauled the roster, hoping fresh faces will ignite change.

The Memphis Grizzlies go for their fourth straight victory on Monday, as they visit the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.

This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the clubs. In the three previous contests, the Grizzlies won once at home and once on the road, while the Clippers won the last game 106-103 over Memphis on February 3rd at FedExForum.

The home team has won eight of 12 and 12 of the last 17 contests in this series. The Clippers snapped a seven-game series losing streak on February 3rd, while the Grizzlies have won eight of the last 11 meetings in this series. The Grizzlies have won three in a row at the Clippers.

On Friday, Shane Battier scored a career-high 33 points, and the Grizzlies handed head coach Mike Fratello his 600th victory with an 86-75 win over the Toronto Raptors at FedExForum. Battier, whose previous career high was 30 points in a November 15, 2001 game against Portland, finished 4-of-5 on three- pointers and 10-of-17 overall.

Lorenzen Wright added 20 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in the win over Portland for the Grizzlies, who have won three straight on the heels of a four-game slide. Brian Cardinal chipped in 13 points and nine boards in the win.

Memphis is 6-1 in Monday games this season. The Grizzlies are 32-16 when they allow under 100 points.

The Grizzlies are 13-15 as the visitor this season. Memphis is 5-5 in its last 10 contests on the road.

Battier is averaging 29 points and eight rebounds in his last two contests. The Duke product has scored in double-digits 26 times this season and has registered three double-doubles.
