| The BFTS makes uninterrupted stops from now through the end of April, promising bull riding fans one of the most intense and grueling races in national sports to decide who will wear the million dollar PBR crown at the end of the 2007 season. For more information on the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Classic or the PBR, please contact 719.471.3008 or visit www.pbrnow.com.
BEHIND THE CHUTES: Enterprise Rent-A-Car's "Ride with the Best" Match-up Bonus: As the winner of the Amp'd Mobile Invitational in Anaheim, Calif. Greg Potter (Queensland, Aus.) was eligible for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car "Ride with the Best" bonus money in St. Louis, Mo., a potential $15,000 bonus check. Potter was unsuccessful in rounds 1 and 2, but made a qualified ride on Re-Vamp of Chumley Cattle Company's, awarding himself $5,000 dollars. Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus: Australian cowboy Brendon Clark (Morpeth, Aus.) led the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Classic going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Had he won the event, Clark would have taken home the bonus of $10,000. Clark did not finish the event in the top spot, therefore the Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus increases to $15,000 at the next BFTS event in New Orleans, La. Ford Super Duty Challenge: As the event winner, Matt Bohon (Cole Camp, Mo.) has qualified for a chance to compete at the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2007 Built Ford Tough Series event winners, for $50,000 toward the purchase of a 2007 Ford Super Duty Truck. The Ford Super Duty Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2007 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win the Ford Super Duty Challenge. Bully Dog Short Go Top Qualifier: Brendon Clark (Morpeth, Aus.) was awarded $2,500 for being the bull rider with the highest cumulative score (i.e. highest in the event average) going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and for properly displaying the Top Qualifier Patch. |

| A small handful of riders those who are rebounding from head, jaw or facial injuries do wear helmets. Most bull riders, however, feel that a helmet restricts their peripheral vision and is too constricting to wear as a preventive measure.
In many respects, it (preventing head injuries) is an issue were struggling with, said Freeman. At issue is that we dont know how serious the cumulative multiple, less severe concussions really are. (Concussions) have long-term neurological effects, but we cant predict how severe they may be. The only protective equipment common among all bull riders is a Kevlar vest worn to protect the chest and internal organs. Former bull rider Cody Lambert invented the vest in the early 1990s, and, since its introduction to the sport, has been credited with drastically reducing the percentage of serious chest and internal injuries among bull riders. A shoulder injury either to a riders free arm (the arm that remains in the air during the ride) or his riding arm is bull ridings most common surgically treated injury, said Freeman. An estimated 12 percent of all surgical procedures that PBR contestants undergo are for shoulder injuries. A third injury, according to Freeman, that virtually every bull rider will suffer from at some point in his career is a groin injury. The incredible force of a 2,000-pound animal often wreaks havocon a riders groin the area where the thigh meets the lower abdomen. Groin injuries vary in severity from simple muscle pulls to serious muscle and tendon damage. With such a high risk of injury, what type of athlete does it take to knowingly and willingly subject himself to such risk week after week? |
