Soccer News:
Racism should be eliminated from soccer stadiums around the world, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said Monday.

"Fighting this scourge is one of our most important tasks," Blatter said in a statement. "Whether associations, teams or players at each and every level, we all have a duty to ensure that our conduct does not lead to anybody being marginalized.

"Football has to set an example for others to follow," Blatter added.

Earlier this month, FIFA set up a group of leading players and coaches to raise the profile of its fight against racism, led by France and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, in response to recent outbreaks of racist abuse around Europe.

"Discrimination of any kind against a country, private person or groups of people on account of ethnic origin, gender, language, religion, politics or any other reason is strictly prohibited (by FIFA) and punishable by suspension or expulsion," Blatter said.
